PEQUEÑOS ÁNGELES SIN CUERPO.

PEQUEÑOS ÁNGELES SIN CUERPO (2022) — NOW BOOKING

We don’t believe in God but we believe in love. A Baroque queer show. A surreal melodrama imitation of life. A pathetic—yet poetic—journey through the bullshit of romantic love.

From STDs to ‘Snow White’. A Petri Dish of ideas, images and feeling: human fountains, Catholic Madonnas and the constant quest of LOVE and being loved.

OPINIONS + REVIEWS

(...) both intimate and vulnerable with being also hilarious and extremely freaky! PLEASE go and watch the weird and wonderful Luis Amália if you have the chance, you won’t be disappointed. And you’ll never be able to look at meatballs again
Hugo Tylor, manager of AREA (Madrid)

“Pequeños ángeles sin cuerpo” is pure pop-baroque, courage and vulnerability. Luis Amália calls upon your soul, moves your depths and it resonates for a long time in your teeth like a gristle.
Rocío Mateo-Sagasta, music and audiovisuals curator at LA CASA ENCENDIDA, Madrid

(...) an effervescent proposal where word, action and movement are not alternate but inter-short-circuited.
Fernando López, bailaor, choreographer, philosopher. Author of the book ‘Flamenco Queer History’

Luis Amália is superb in this unique show.
Osama Chami, director de cine, CZDR Films

Best quality emotional porn.
Alberto Sierra, stand-up comedian and TV-writer of ‘El Hormiguero’ (Antena 3, Spain)

(...) we penetrate both the intimacy of a character and world of different references (...) Funny and subversive!
Edouard Taufenbach + Bastien Pourtout, artists

Luis Amália shares with us a secret memory, a ghost. Splattered with drops of Cocteau, Almodóvar and Chantal Ackerman, this piece makes us, through humour,  the witnesses of his tragedy.
Paco y Manolo, Kink Magazine (kinkediciones)

(...) is watching the chaotic, vulnerable, stinky, glorious inner life of the protagonist unfold before your eyes. It is watching his broken heart, his dreams and ambitions, his spite become a mannerist (...) Scatological, over the top, and inducing indigestion, but also deeply tender and authentic, Amália’s work is a monument to vulnerability and being true to oneself.
Carlota Mir, independent curator

(...) you soon realise that you are in front of something different and special.
Luis Amália is visceral to the bone. (...) The brutal use of the voice and the body along with the particular use of the architecture. There’s yet something to discover in his work.
Pablo Roa, screenwriter of ‘Money Heist’ + ‘Toy Boy’ (Netflix)

(...) that tells us beyond what we can see over its one hour of duration. Amália wrings the clichés of the contemporary gay experience (...) he gives us laughs, a lot of joy and some goosebumps.
Daniel von Lion, musician

‘We loved how the stories were blended, the gymnastics, the pianist, the sauna, the childhood. The passages, the connections, the reflections… super cool, leaving a mark. I Hope you are happy with the result and wish you could keep performing it in other venues ;) The uneven bars scene with the metronome was just mesmerizing.’
— Former gymnasts + Audience members

What's "Little Angels Without Body" about?
It's a comedy in the shape of a romantic novel parody.

Tells the story of Blanche in one single day (like in Virginia Woolf's "Mrs. Dalloway"). Dealing with the mourning of a break-up. Finding out the Disney references and the Chocolate Boxes that made her believe love was forever.

"Take your broken heart, make it into art." — Meryl Streep quoting Carrie Fisher.

This is a tale about how to overcome rupture with absurdity. About those moments when all that trendy positivity tells you that "you need to be happy" but all you want to do is disappear. About taking those moments and develop something beautiful (and hilarious) with them.
